Chloe Healey
Woven Emotions: A Sense of Home
About the artist
Chloe Healey is a contemporary jeweller and artist from the Gold Coast who predominantly uses sterling silver in her work. Her most recent bodies of work explore the notion of art vs craft by combining sterling silver with second hand fibres to create pieces that either adorn the body or can be displayed as wall hangings. Her works are lovingly hand crafted from her home studio where she draws inspiration from the surrounding nature. At times, you can also catch her creating on the train. In 2017 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Jewellery and Small Objects from Griffith University, Queensland College of Art.

About the artwork
My series of brooches is titled Woven Emotions – A Sense of Home. Each brooch is inspired by a particular location on the Gold Coast that has significant meaning to me and brings a strong sense of emotion. The feeling of home and being brought to tears by the beauty and love for each of these places on the Gold Coast is what links this series together, along with the repetition of combining both recycled sterling silver and second-hand yarns. The only difference being the location each piece has been inspired by. This has influenced the colour combinations within the woven element of each brooch. From this series, I hope to create discussions about the locations that give viewers a strong sense of emotion and a sense of home.
